Options available for 14-19 Flexible Learning

The information below only offers you an insight into the programmes available at Oracle. You will find more detailed information and costings in our prospectus.

Option 1

Oracle’s Taster Days. The starting point for all Learners wanting to attend Oracle. An action packed information day covering aspects of the career chosen, what is expected and how to get where you want to go.

Option 2

Work Taster Programme. A two tier programme which can be split to access each stage as a stand alone Unit. Stage one includes input in Communication Skills, Customer Service, and interview techniques, culminating in an interview leading into Stage two and a work Taster in the area of choice – hopefully resulting in pathway to further training and the possibility of employment.

Option 3

Nail Techniques. Again a programme which can be split into two separate courses, depending on the needs of the individual. The first stage results in a Unit accreditation at level two, for treating individuals in both manicure and pedicure techniques. Popular with budding Beauty Therapists, but also for individuals thinking of a career in care, chiropody or reflexology. The second stage covers a Unit at level 3 for Artificial Nail Techniques, ideal for those with artistic talents opening a door into Nail Art and the Cosmetic world of Theatre.

Option 4

Hairdressing level 1 NVQ.. Resulting in a full Level 1 qualification, this option has been a popular choice with schools. Like all our NVQ programmes the Learnersattends Oracle for their underpinning knowledge sessions, one day a week, then spend two days gaining valuable experience in a local Salon – hopefully resulting in further training opportunities and employment.

Option 5

Hairdressing level 2 NVQ. A higher level and progression route into more technical training within the hairdressing world. This is a two year programme.

Option 6

Beauty Therapy level 2 NVQ. Available for those Learners interested in the health and beauty industry. Due to the nature of the course and the absence of a level 1 programme, we would only recommend this course for individuals capable of achieving the level of theory within the qualification. However, this course can be split into individual Units to suit.

Option 7

Body Massage. This level 3 unit is the gateway to many different careers. Beauty Therapy, Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractor, Care Worker, Aromatherapist, Reflexologist, Sports therapist, Doctor, the list is endless.

Option 8

Aromatherapy. A natural progression for anyone interested in option 7. Alternative therapy is an up and coming career with many avenues of employment.

Option 9

Sports Therapy level 2 NVQ. The Leisure Industry is growing as is the popularity of health and fitness. This course caters for individuals who are interested in the Therapy side of sports, as an introduction into this demanding industry.

Option 10

Retailing level 2 NVQ. Again, this course opens up many opportunities to individuals interested in the Leisure and Hospitality Industry as well as traditional retail outlets, in fact retailing is an employable skill that a young person can take into any industry (Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Basic First Aid, Key Skills and Customer Service options are also options available).
